Profile

From Vancouver, Canada, Sam began playing rugby at age 11. With natural size and speed, Sam was a formidable opponent, playing up age groups consistently. Sam started at both Tight Head and Loose Head Prop for Provincial Representative teams from 2010-2014 and 2016. He played for his high school team in both 7s and 15s, and in his final year was selected to the 2016 Commissioner’s XV, the MVPs of the provincial finals.

Sam continued searching for opportunities in his rugby career and was scouted for the University of British Columbia (UBC), which has the one of best university rugby programs in Canada. While at UBC, Sam grew as a player, being selected for both Canada U-19 and U-20 teams. As well, Sam was invited to play on the Canadian University All-Star team to play in Denver, Colorado, as he competed in the Canadian University National Championships. He also played in the World University Invitational Rugby Championships in Japan in 2019.

Sam is keen on progressing and finding new opportunities to grow as a player. He went on exchange to Cardiff University and played for the 1st XV. while there, Sam helped the team fight relegation successfully, making an impact off the bench.

Sam Returned to the UK in 2021 and joined Clifton RFC. He continued his success with Cardiff University with the 1st XV, Becoming a regular starter with the 2nd XV and coming off the bench while Clifton finished their highest ever position in National 2 South. He continued this success in his second year at the club, helping the 2nd XV gain promotion into the South West Premier league. He is currently playing for the Glamorgan Wanderers in the Welsh Championship.

Sam is a passionate and coachable player, eager to play the best standard of rugby available. He is excited to showcase his skills as a front row.
